The Ward of Dowgate covers the area around Cannon Street station.
It’s one of the City’s smaller Wards in size and representation (having an Alderman and two councillors) and has few residents but a bustling business and wider life. It hosts some of the City’s leading hospitality venues.
In many ways, Dowgate is the beating heart at the centre of the City.
The Ward has major investment and legal as well as consultancies, financial advisers, trade bodies, charities and Livery Companies (to find out more about Livery Companies – try an internet search: they do great work for charity and their related professional communities as well as fostering a wide range of vibrant social activities).
Dowgate is a small Ward but we have Livery companies, Investment banks, a leading charity (Tommy’s), one of the world’s leading credit card businesses, law firms ranging from barristers to top solicitors, investment managers, the UK’s premier trade body, consultancies, financial advisers, consultancies a wide range of residents.
….. and a resident population of pollinators on the roof of Nomura. We take pride in helping London to prosper and to thrive.
Aldermen perform a role which goes back to Anglo Saxon times. Dowgate’s Alderman is Alison Gowman (shown above between her Councillors).
Alison is leading lawyer, Canon at St. Paul’s and has served the Ward and wider City for several decades. Henry and Mark enjoy a supportive working relationship with the Alderman on case work and committees … and the share enthusiasm for the social life of Dowgate…
